NOAA’s Fisheries Service has urged the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts to reconsider its order to temporarily suspend measures in place since 2006 that address overfishing, promote rebuilding of many groundfish stocks and provide fishing opportunities to target healthy groundfish stocks. In effect, the court’s order may force more stringent management measures in the future.
