Santa To Visit Woods Hole Science Aquarium

Santa Claus will visit with children in the lobby of the Woods Hole Science Aquarium December 23 (Friday) from 2-3:30 p.m. Santa has also agreed to conduct the afternoon feeding for LuSeal, the aquarium’s resident harbor seal, at 4PM.

The aquarium is open weekdays from 11-4. The aquarium will be closed December 26 and January 2. Admission is free.

The aquarium collection includes approximately 140 species of marine animals. This month the collection features three endangered Kemp’s ridley turtles that stranded on Cape Cod beaches in late October and early November. The turtles are juveniles, weighing from 4-7 pounds. The aquarium staff is treating the turtles for skin lesions, flipper infections, and shell lesions. The turtles are expected to recover in time for release to the wild next summer when local waters are at their warmest.

Aquarium visitors can see the turtles in the upstairs display area, near the touch tanks.
